Wasn’t UFC 68 the show where ESPN was going to start covering MMA? Anyone see any evience of this yet?

The TV coverage, I believe, has been pushed back a little bit. They are still having meetings at ESPN. They did do a piece on the UFC in ESPN Magazine, though.
Oh yeah, ESPN Desportes has already begun covering the UFC as well.
On paper, this nights UFC card is very disappointing. If the PPV buys are not down on this card, you can bet that the next card will be down just as there is not one marquee fight on this card.
When/where was the ESPN coverage announced? I must have missed that.
Someone from ESPN went onto Sherdog about a month ago and proclaimed it.
Is he still alive after that
Zach I’ve been wanting to check out some of the Japanese blogs you read. Could you share some links?
Anyone read any more info or hear anything more about the Sakakibara-Fishman issues?

– Dude, they had two to three cards last year WAY worse than this, and Anderson Silva vs. Travis freaking Lutter just outdrew Couture vs. Liddell in PPV buys. Your comment comes off as nothing but wishful thinking.

Even, if the PPV buys are sustained, the UFC will start to lose popularity if they do not start putting on TUF level cards.
The fans want to see a better calibre for the PPV costs. Even Zach Arnold would be dissapointed with this card.
Erin’ s light hearted commentary will not make the casual fan view future cards.
Is anyone else hearing that Wand has signed with the UFC? I just got three e-mails about it.

I assume you meant if they DO start putting on TUF level cards…? I don’t see lack of solid cards being an issue for much longer. They’re creating new stars on just about every show nowadays, and keep signing solid fighters, so the big dependance on overhyped TUFers we saw in 2006 and now early this year(69 will be the worst one yet in this regard) is probably just temporary, and *when/if* the viewers turn against it, the company will have more than enough options to put more solid cards if forced. But for now there’s nothing indicating a change in the trend of UFC’s audience swallowing whatever it is served(aka if UFC says a fighter is top 5 = fans will perceive fighter as top 5).
I think the heavy schedule just got a little bit ahead of the talent aquisition. By mid year, all the cards should be stacked. Still, I really like this card and don’t get why people are so critical of it.
And now, Rollo the Cat’s Four-Paw Picks for tonight’s UFC:
Couture over Sylvia
MacDonald over Franklin
Rollo the Cat only bets the dogs.
“The scheduled 4/28 follow-up Pride PPV at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas has been canceled. As you can imagine, lots behind the scenes will end up coming out on that one.”
