The blog just started, I haven’t even begun promoting it (I tought I’d wait till it has a little more content), but it looks like you found me, so I’d better get going !

Critic:

I’m not so sure how many “best of the best” fighters come back from knockouts “gunshy”. No doubt as you’ve said that a great deal of fighters who’ve been KO’d come back and are gunshy (i.e. Louiseau) but I think the guys at the top of their games usually can shrug it off and move on.

For instance I think we’ll see someone like Silva comeback like a house afire against Hendo. He’s shown that his spectacular loss to Belfort never really discouraged him in the least.

And I think Hughes is gonna be no different…

And if you followed Japan in the 90s, there was no Internet scene. It was all newspapers or magazines, and nothing in English.

It’s amazing how fast things have changed in one decade.

Josh, you are correct. And that is why MMA is doing so well, and boxing is a dying sport.

I don’t mean to sound like an old timer, and I’m only in my mid 20’s, but I just have to say it: “These newbies don’t know how good they have it….. Back in the day, I remember barely being able to get fight results on the forums.”

Honestly…. UFC 68 is a solid card. Sylvia/Couture, Franklin/MacDonald, & Lambert/Babalu are solid contests. Yes, Hughes has a little easier fight, but give the man a break. This is his easiest fight on paper since Gil Castillo in November 2002. The guy deserves an easier fight. and don’t be surprised if he pulls a Loiseau and becomes very gun shy in the octagon. Some athletes have a tough time coming back from a KO like that.

The UFC is doing a great job at balancing career development and big fights. Each card is well balanced to typically satisfy both the hardcore and casual fans. It is a complete 180 compared to 6 or 7 years ago when I had no access to MMA on TV, and there was no YouTube to even watch fights.

One of the few times I agree with u critic Huerta/Stevenson will be a great fight (though I really wished Caol would return to the US). Also the UFC has relaly been putting together some quality shows. People bitch about the main event squash matches BUT compared to boxing I think the UFC has come along way from amking their shows just be 1 or 2 bout centered, and be more about a well rounded card where its even difficult for them to figure out whose on the udnercaqrd and who’s on the main.

Plus, if you now look at that Houston card, it is very solid. The main event still stinks, but the rest of the undercard is about as strong as you can ask for. Heck, 3 of the fights could produce legit #1 contenders in their respective divisions.

Georges St. Pierre vs. Matt Serra
Diego Sanchez vs. Josh Koscheck
Mike Swick vs. Yushin Okami
Roger Huerta vs. Joe Stevenson
Kendall Grove vs. Alan Belcher

Plus, on the undercard would be Herring, Sell/Leitas, & David/Spratt. I wish I could be in Houston for this show. Not sure if I could afford the tickets though.

Huerta vs. Stevenson would be a very good fight. The winner could set themselves up for a title shot at the end of 2007, if not early 2008. As it looks right now, it is Franca in July, Penn after that, and then you would have to think the winner of Stevenson/Huerta.
