Fight Opinion Radio #37: Bringing in the New Year

By Zach Arnold | January 9, 2007

Print Friendly and PDF

A very reflective and perceptive edition of Fight Opinion Radio this week, as our special guest co-host is Keegan Walsh of http://www.fightreport.net. We review the fallout from the UFC 66 card (an update to the show segment – the Nevada commission and the beat writers claim that Liddell tore his ACL, while writers as of today like Mike Sawyer and Ken Pishna are claiming Liddell hurt his MCL — which would be a big difference) and devote an entire segment recapping all of the major events that happened to UFC in 2006, setting the table for what they will try to accomplish in 2007. This is definitely a show if you are into history.

Also on the show this week is a segment focused squarely on all of the events that took place in PRIDE in 2006. Why did the hammer get dropped on them? What was their corporate vision once the company faced financial trouble? Do they operate like a normal run-of-the-mill corporation operates? If you got lost on all of the details that arose from the PRIDE/Shukan Gendai scandal, we lay out the entire story in this segment and put the pieces of the puzzle together for casual fans to understand what happened and why it happened.

Plus the world-famous grab bag segment featuring stories on Instant Replay in MMA, Jim Lampley arrested (I bet he is thrilled about UFC events now reportedly airing on HBO), and the IFL announcing four more teams to be added for their 2008 season.
