DSE announced that Emelienanko Fedor, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mirko Cro Cop, Vanderlei Silva, Mark Hunt, Josh Barnett, Tsuyoshi Kohsaka, & Hidehiko Yoshida would participate in their 2006 Open-Weight tournament, which starts on 5/5 at the Osaka Dome.

The timing of the announcement is curious, as it was done three days before the Bushido 10 show. Second, Nobuhiko Takada was the public face during the announcement. DSE boss Nobuyuki Sakakibara was not front-and-center.

I think this may fall into the make your money while you can kids. I’m not sure what kind of a draw Kohsaka is but I figure a Japanese vs. Japanese match should do decent.

  2. Boof says:

couldnt they announce something more interesting than this?

kohsaka is way way past it and yoshida’s participation is not exactly something to surprise anybody is it?

Fedor has already said he is not fighting so his hand can heal, so that sounds like more takada bullshit already- and i think i read that Vandy or cb has said that he wont be fighting.

would have been interesting if they said gomi was fighting fedor in the first round with sakuraba rematching crocop- now that would be NEWS
