Latest from Tanigawa & Sakakibara

By Zach Arnold | January 3, 2006

Print Friendly and PDF

Gryphon has links to recent interviews with Tanigawa (K-1 producer) & Sakakibara (DSE boss).

Here is my translation of some of the information from Sakakibara’s interview:

Sakakibara stated that Mirko caught a cold (had the flu) before he left Croatia to arrive in Japan to fight Mark Hunt. Sakakibara also claims Mirko hurt his ankle and that this is why he was wearing shoes. He wants to book a re-match between Hunt & Mirko.

Sakakibara also stated that the next event (PRIDE 31) will happen on 2/26 at Saitama Super Arena. The next date booked after that is on 5/5 at the Osaka Dome. This is the opening round for either a Heavyweight or open-weight GP tournament. Afterwards, shows will happen in July and September.

  1. I look forward to that rematch. CroCop won’t be able to use the same two excuses twice.

Any news on future Bushido shows this coming year? They’re the reason I love PRIDE.

  2. Luke says:

Gomi is the reason I love PRIDE. To quote Bryan Alvarez, “He has the charisma of twenty men”.
